Day and Night

What is your attitude toward things that are new or mysterious?

I loved the animated short "Day and Night" at the beginning of Toy Story 3  from the first time I saw it in the theater. Every time I watch it, I like it more.
There is a clip from a recording of a lecture by Dr. Wayne Dyer, a self-help author and motivational speaker, within the short. Here are some of the things he says:

Fear of the unknown.

They are afraid of new ideas.

They are loaded with prejudices, not based upon anything in reality, but based on… if something is new, I reject it immediately because it’s frightening to me. What they do instead is just stay with the familiar.

You know, to me, the most beautiful things in all the universe, are the most mysterious.

What do you think of Dr. Dyer's statements? Do you think they are true of many people? Are they true of you?

Can you make any text-to-text connections between this video clip and other  books you have read (Flipped, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Tiger Rising, Romeo and Juliet, The Hunger Games), movies you have watched, or songs you have heard?

Post your responses in the comments section.

Wow I have actually seen this before. It's funny at the end because they trade their times.

That was very umm whats the word weird, because they started fighting and then they were friends? I'm confused two opposites becoming friends I wish that could happen in real life.

That's an interesting observation, Ayinde. It doesn't seem to happen quite like that in real life. Why do you think they were fighting? What do think inspired them to become friends? Can that happen in real life? Can anyone think of any examples of that happening?

I think the video that and night was really good and it was really funny to watch and it was pretty how they both was like a sunset and they was giving each other the eyes then the sunset went down and they started dancing again.

I think they became friends because they were polar opposites and learned to sort out their differences. However in the end they both traded and got to enjoy what they hadn't before.

I believe that this can only happen on movies and T.V.Mostly because I have not seen or heard in my Experience.

I agree with Ayinde, This was very weird and why did they become friends at the end?

I like it because it is unique and the animation is very interesting, also I like how they become friends at the end after they started to accept and admire each others differences.
Also in real life opposites do become friends as long as each of the other sides are kind and open minded, and don't hide in well known and go into the unknown.
It is better to face your fear and dive into the darkness that way you know what others are missing out of. Stay original, and like what you like. It doesn't matter about others opinions. You have the right to like what you like and not be judged, but the fear of the unknown tries to take that right from you. And we all see, hear, or get that done to you everyday.
